Scholarships and Aid Search 
This unit will examine many different forms of college scholarships and financial aid.
Students will will select one scholarship they will present on. Please inform Mr. Pearse of which scholarship you would like to present so no two student's present the same item. You can inform Mr. Pearse of your scholarship selection at any time through out the year.
Class 1
Each student will spend this class preparing a presentation on the scholarship they have selected.
The digital presenter will be available so please use overheads, application forms and/or handouts.
Your job is to SELL your scholarship. What are the important facts regarding your chosen scholarship.

The following class, each group will deliver a presentation no less then 3 minutes, no more then 5 minutes. Mr. Pearse will set the Cool Timer to alert you when your time is up.

College Exploration 
Introduction
College Exploration will require you to select one college to research and present on. Your job will be to select a college you are VERY interested in ( including trade schools, community colleges, millitary or overseas colleges).
Procedure
Design and create one PowerPoint presentation on your college.
Create a bibliography of the resources you used to create your presentation and place this bibliography as the last slide of your presentation.
Present to the class utilizing computer, LCD projector and the NEW Promethean ACTIVboard.

Resume
Mr. Pearse will show you where you can access a resume template in Google Docs. We will create the resume in class together. You will be assessed via this rubric. At the end of the resume creation process you will be asked to print out the resume and the rubric and hand them to Mr. Pearse.
Personality/Career Journey 
This component will provide a lead into the Career Exploration Unit. Various online based tests will be completed which will represent a general picture of your career/work interests. More then two tests will be undertaken in order to cross reference the different methods research companies utilize in producing these styles of tests.
Full grade will only be given if students have printed the expected two tests within the time allotted. It is expected that these tests will then go home for your parents/guardians approval. .

Career Exploration 
Introduction
The goal here is to research a career that you are interested in and write a blog posting about it.
Mr. Pearse will teach you how to login and how to make postings.
Your blog postings should include at least 200 words about your selected career.
You should include at least one picture that depicts your career.
Mr. Pearse MUST approve you posting before it will appear on the blog.
When all of the blog postings have been made, you will then be able to make comments on other students postings.
Any comments that are less then thirty words, have IM language or emoticons will be deleted.
