In my teaching I like to incorporate a lot of technology. It motivates students of all learning styles. One of the newest tools available utilizes little handsets similar to a TV's remote control. Students answer questions projected onto a large screen by selecting the correct answer from a list and then pressing the correct button that corresponds. This data is then transmitted to the computer and kept in a "grade book". The computer then projects the results for the whole class in the form of a bar chart. This provides the students with a fun experience. Feedback is not only instant, it leaves the student with a positive glow and a smile on their face! |

OpenOffice is a free program that will accomplish all the things Microsoft Office can do at a very good price. For FREE, you get a word processor, spreadsheet creator and many other similar Office type tools. OpenOffice was originally created by Sun Microsystems, one of the largest technology companies in the world. Now, OpenOffice is "open source" code which means that the program is free to all and owned by all. I recommend this program for all students and adults.
